About Abby
This blog is about me, my thoughts, the world around me, and the world I’ve yet to discover. I’m 26 years old, I’ve never been to an ocean, and I can’t keep my bedroom clean to solve world hunger.
I am passionate about everything, and I spend a lot of time dreaming about what I’ll be when I grow up. I can’t decide if I want to be a childless careerette, build my own business from the ground up, or make a life at home rearing 6 kids in the path of my wonderful mother. Right now I want to be a photographer and 5 star doggy day-caretaker, so we’ll see how that goes. In the real world I’m an executive at one of the top retailers in the country, but what fun is that?
My marriage is a cheesy cliché, but how better to describe my husband Robby than as my best friend? He introduced me to beer, Guitar Hero, golf, and bad movie taste – and I’ve reciprocated by sharing my love of karaoke bars, obsession with Chinese take-out, and my signature accelerating crescendo that is unavoidable in any debate.
Unbeknown to me until the summer of 2006 – I can also be adequately summed up as one of those crazy dog people. After a lively two weeks of being consumed by the fantasy of a little furry friend, I convinced the hub to drudge up to a sketchy mall to peruse the breeds at an even sketchier pet store….and we walked out with our firstborn, Tucker, a floppy Pekingese/Shih Tzu mix. He’s since been joined by a little brother, Reggie, a lively little Puggle (Pug/Beagle mix). We are well on our way to rescuing every poor designer dog from every delapadated pet store we can find.
I love to read, and my interests change as often as my career aspirations. I’ve read every John Grisham pre-sentimental sap era, every Jodi Picoult in all her sappy glory, and recently bought a giant schoolbookesque text on U.S. history – as I’m convinced that despite the credits received, I’ve never taken a history class. I haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s there the next time someone starts talking smart about the Battle of wherever. I also am unabashedly addicted to celebrity gossip(holla Us Mag!), and own more hairstyle magazines than a salon. Despite this, my hair only gets cut once a year…and it is self-chopped…but I digress. I love to meet new people, and fervently enjoy a good discussion. Finally, I am a self-proclaimed, and publicly decried, dork. By way of example, that won’t be the last time you hear me say holla.
I am unsure the path that this blog will take, but am excited at the prospect of a new adventure. I’d love to hear what you have to say!
